Chapman University, located in Orange, California, recently announced the construction of a new facility for the Sandi Simon Center For Dance.
According to the university, the project’s first phase will involve a structural retrofit of the 70,000-square-foot, two-story building. And 39,000 square feet of that retrofit will be dedicated to the university’s dance department. The second phase will involve the build-out of said building.
Building amenities include six dance studios. The project entails Harlequin WoodSpring® with hardwood in the performance and tap spaces, and Harlequin WoodSpring® with Harlequin Cascade™ in the other studios.
Technology will be implemented in the space to allow live music accompaniment, live video conferencing, and video shooting.
The university is partnering with R.D. Olson Construction and the LOHA architecture firm for the retrofit. The project is slated to be completed in June of 2022.
