The production team at The Museum of Modern Art in New York City chose Harlequin for performances at their recently expanded performance space. The New York City Ballet<\/a> performed at the MoMA this past March to inaugurate the exhibition “Lincoln Kirstein’s Modern”<\/a> with excerpts from four seminal works by choreographer George Balanchine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The production team at MoMA chose Harlequin Liberty LatchLoc\u2122<\/a> stage panels combined with a Harlequin Cascade\u2122<\/a> vinyl performance surface, a silky smooth embossed surface that gives warmth to any performance, providing excellent grip and serves as a high-quality base for lighting designers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The exhibition, which ran from March 17-June 15, 2019, examined Kirstein\u2019s extensive impact on American culture in the 1930s and \u201940s, offering some 200 artworks alongside materials from the museum\u2019s archive. The polymathic Kirstein, <\/a>a writer and curator who influenced the fields of dance, photography, painting, theater design, literature and architecture, is probably best known for founding New York City Ballet with Balanchine. It was Kirstein who discovered, persuaded and largely paid for Balanchine \u2014 a Russian \u00e9migr\u00e9 based in Paris \u2014 to come to New York in 1933. They would go on to establish the School of American Ballet and the troupe that in 1948 became New York City Ballet<\/a>.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
