Alert RESTART Awareness Campaign September 1, 2020"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On September 1st, 2020 over 1,500 locations across North America will be lit up in red to draw attention to the plight of the Live Events Industry.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Red Alert RESTART is an awareness event created by WeMakeEvents, a coalition of trade bodies, businesses, unions and live event workers coming together to raise public awareness and advocate for the live events sector during the COVID-19 pandemic.&nbsp; The Live Events Industry was one of the first industries shut down and will be one of the last to return.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Live events employ over 12 million people.<\/li><li>Live events contributes over $1 trillion annually to the US economy.<\/li><li>95% of live events have been cancelled due to COVID-19.<\/li><li>96% of companies have cut staff and\/or wages.<\/li><li>77% of people in the live events industry have lost 100% of their income, including 97% of 1099 workers.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal is to ensure that Congress quickly passes the language of the RESTART Act (S.3814) for small businesses and extends and expands PUA &amp; FPUC for displaced workers, offering economic relief to the Live Events Industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Red Lights glow nationwide, the tens of thousands of people following this event on social media are invited
