Harlequin was delighted to receive an invitation to partake in the exquisite experience of Angel Corella\u2019s newest masterpiece, Carmen while commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Philadelphia Ballet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the evening of Friday, October 6th, 2023, the grand Opening Weekend Gala unfolded in all its splendor, replete with a captivating ballet performance and a Spanish-inspired dinner. This year\u2019s festivities are dedicated to honoring the world premiere production of Artistic Director Angel Corella\u2019s Carmen<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The full-length ballet performance showcases meticulously crafted costumes and choreography that seamlessly fuse the rich tapestry of traditional Spanish dance with the grace of classical ballet. The performance featured Bizet\u2019s iconic score, performed by the Philadelphia Ballet orchestra as an original arrangement by Music Director, Beatrice Jona Affron, and Angel Corella. Between bullfights, bandits, and lovers, Carmen<\/em> captures a passion that burns as bright as the sun in southern Spain. It was indeed a fun-filled, Spanish-themed evening!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
