Harlequin Floors Attends Philadelphia Ballet Groundbreaking Ceremony

Harlequin Floors was honored to be invited to the Philadelphia Ballet‘s groundbreaking event celebrating the expansion that will complete the company’s home on North Broad Street.

Construction of the new five-story building of glass and steel, designed by Varenhorst Architects, which will contain a black-box performance space, rehearsal spaces, and administrative offices, is expected to begin early next year at an anticipated cost of $35 million, according to WHYY.

“This is a BIG day,” said Philadelphia Ballet Executive Director Shelly Power. “When I first met David Hoffman and Louise Reed [the current and former board chairs] they said to me, ‘Shelly, we have to finish our home,’” she said. “That was five years ago.”

“Years in the planning, the unveiling of this next step for Philadelphia Ballet is a landmark moment in the company’s history. As we invest in the future of our organization, we also invest in the future of Philadelphia, and reaffirm our commitment to serving the vibrant and diverse communities of our city,” said Board Chairman David Hoffman.

The state of the art building will include new studios and a black box theatre all equipped with Harlequin Floors.
