That will depend upon the type of floor you’re looking for, the area you wish to cover, if you need it installed, where you’re based, etc. It would be difficult to provide a general price on our website without that information. Therefore, please contact us for a quote, samples, additional information and/or product availability.
Harlequin Floors can be bought directly from American Harlequin Corporation for locations in North, South and Latin America as well as the Caribbean. We have operations worldwide; please visit our Contact Us page for the Harlequin Group in your region.
In the 1970’s Marley Floors Ltd in England manufactured a double-sided floor for dance but their production line closed in 1977. Their Export Sales Manager, Bob Dagger, decided to set up Harlequin Floors and began production of the same floor, which he called Harlequin Reversible™. The term “marley floor” has become a generic term for a roll out vinyl floor in the performing arts and entertainment industries.
Each of our vinyl marley floors has been developed for specific applications and with the performer’s safety and comfort in mind. Contact us or use our Floor Selector to determine which floor is right for you.
A permanent vinyl floor is glued down with adhesive and can’t be removed without risking damage to the floor. A semi-permanent vinyl floor is laid using double-sided tape to adhere to the sub-floor. A portable vinyl floor is rolled out and the seams are covered with tape.
Harlequin offers double-sided tape, PVC tape, and gaffer’s tape in various colors to match Harlequin vinyl marley floors. Available by the single roll or case through our online shop or by contacting your Account Executive.
Yes, but only when you use it in dry conditions or it’s under cover. If it gets wet it will become very slippery. If it is placed in direct sunlight it will heat up and may expand. Lighter colors will stay cooler. For additional information, contact us.
If your Harlequin vinyl marley floor is not laid permanently, always keep it firmly wound onto the cardboard core from the packaging. This helps prevent the floor from being flattened or dented, and makes handling easier. Never wind up the rolls without a core inside and never store them horizontally on top of each other with no core to support them, as this will certainly cause them to flatten and oval, resulting in stubborn or permanent ripples. If you do have to store the rolls flat, make sure that they are not stacked more than two rolls high and lay no heavy objects on top.
All Harlequin vinyl floors except Allegro, Studio, Studio B, and FreeStyle should be store on the core horizontally, not vertically (standing roll on the roll end), which is likely to cause damage to the floor edge. Allegro, Studio, Studio B, and FreeStyle should be stored vertically to prevent compression damage to the foam backing.
Harlequin vinyl marley floors are designed to stand up to grueling tour schedules and, if maintained carefully, will last many years. We have customers who still use floors that they bought from us 25 years ago!
Harlequin vinyl marley floors are freeze tolerant but, like all vinyls, they get harder and stiffer as the temperature drops. However, when the temperature rises they return to normal. If the weather is cold, the best advice when taking delivery is to get them inside as soon as possible.
A Harlequin vinyl marley floor can be laid onto most level sub-floors, e.g. concrete, wood or tiles, although we don’t advise laying onto carpet. If a sub-floor isn’t very level or unacceptably hard, then a Harlequin sprung floor can be used in conjunction with a Harlequin performance surface (vinyl marley floor, hardwood or engineered board). If you are worried whether your existing floor is suitable, please contact us.
If the floor is being transported to another location, ensure that the floor is rolled up tightly using the cardboard core it came on, as it is important to avoid flattening and distorting the roll. You can then use Harlequin vinyl marley floor roll straps roll straps to keep the roll in place. If you need to transport or store the floor, you can use Harlequin vinyl marley floor roll storage carts or roll storage bags.
A Harlequin Liberty LatchLoc™ sprung panel floor can be rented for special events or touring performances. PLEASE NOTE: A Harlequin sprung floor is recommended to be used in conjunction with an appropriate Harlequin vinyl flooring surface, which are not available for rental purposes and will need to be purchased. Please contact us for further information on rentals, as there is limited availability.
Yes, both our sprung floor systems and vinyl marley floors can be installed by our highly skilled technical team, as part of our total package to ensure your new floor is correctly installed and fully compliant with current regulations and standards.
Black is a popular choice but gray works well too. It’s a special tonal mix of black and white with no pigmentation, that lights like a dream and gives your lighting director exciting possibilities. There’s also TV white – a paler, non-pigmented gray, which looks white on color TV.
