Breaking New Ground is a compelling series that showcases the dream of Broadway star Robert Hartwell, a gay black man who had a vision to transform his 200-year-old Massachusetts house with a complicated history into a new home filled with love. The six-episode series follows Robert’s journey as he faces challenges throughout renovating his plantation-style home that honors his ancestors. It’s a renovation story 200 years in the making. The show is produced by Oprah Winfrey’s OWN and Drew and Jonathan Scott’s Scott Brothers Entertainment. 

Harlequin Floors in the Spotlight

Episode 5 highlights the Broadway Collective founder’s dreams of building a dance studio using original details and flooring to make this one-of-a-kind space. When faced with construction challenges and news that the original flooring could not be salvaged, Robert contacted Harlequin Floors. After hearing the inspiring story that the space would be dedicated to the memory of his dear friend, dancer, and choreographer Darius Barnes, the team at Harlequin was eager to help bring Robert’s vision to life. Following a site visit to the house, Harlequin recommended a Harlequin Liberty® LatchLoc sprung panel system with a Harlequin vinyl performance surface. Robert carefully reviewed samples of Harlequin’s vinyl marley floors and chose the multipurpose Harlequin Cascade™, known for its ‘perfect feel’ as the top surface. Throughout the episode, one of Harlequin’s Technical Teams will install the panel system and vinyl surface. Complementing the floors are Harlequin Studio Series Ballet Barres.
